T-cell Receptor Excision Circles (TREC) Analysis

T-Cell Receptor Excision Circles (TREC) analysis can be requested for diagnostic purposes.

Specimen requirements

We recommend that you collect the dried blood spot on a Whatman Protein Saver Diagnostic bloodspot collection card. These cards can be ordered directly from Newborn Screening Ontario.

Alternatively, you can use a standard newborn screening collection card. If you are using this option, please ensure that you tear away and discard the requisition portion of the card from the filter paper card and affix the molecular requisition to it instead. This will avoid confusion in the laboratory and ensure the sample is tested appropriately rather than being processed as a newborn screen.
