Expanded Hearing Screening

Screening Results

Once a referral has been made to an Infant Hearing Program audiologist and a parent or legal guardian consents to the expanded hearing screening, the baby is eligible for blood spot screening for hearing loss risk factors.  Results of the hearing loss risk factor blood spot screen will be available about 1 week after Newborn Screening Ontario receives notification to perform the screen.  All results will be sent to the Infant Hearing Program.

This section of the website provides information about what types of results a parent or legal guardian might expect from the hearing loss risk factor blood spot screen.
